Senate Passes Housing Affordability Bill
The U.S. Senate on July 14 passed the 
Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016, legislation that includes many NAHB-supported bipartisan fixes to HUD programs. President Obama is expected to sign the measure into law.

Lot Sizes in 2015 Were Smallest on Record
The median lot size of a new single-family detached home sold in 2015 was 8,589 square feet, 
the smallest recorded since the Census Bureau’s Survey of Construction started tracking lot sizes in 1992.

Who Are NAHB’s Associate Members?
More than 
82,000 NAHB members are Associates, those who are indirectly involved in home building, according to the latest annual member census. The member census provides a snapshot of the federation and a comparison to previous years’ membership.

Penalties for OSHA Violations Will Increase Aug. 1 
Monetary penalties issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for regulation infractions are slated to rise by as much as 150% on Aug. 1, depending on the type of violation.

Board members should register as soon as possible for 
NAHB’s Midyear Board of Directors Meeting, which will be held at theFontainebleau in Miami Beach Aug. 8-11. A highlight will be a presentation by noted political analyst Charlie Cook on Aug. 9.
