NAHB filed comments opposing HUD’s planned implementation of the Federal Flood Risk Management Standard in December. As was previously reported NAHB believes the proposed rule is substantially flawed and should be withdrawn.
SPRINGDALE WATER PROPOSING ORDINANCE FOR RELAXED HOOOKUP REQUIREMENTS
Springdale has proposed an ordinance that has relaxed the requirements for water hook-ups. The bury hydrant will be allowed to be installed alongside the plumbing rough-in before the slab is poured. The is an effort to eliminate an extra trip by the plumber, allow for plumbing work to happen simultaneously and save builders some money.
ECONOMIC GROWTH EXPECTED TO PICK UP NEXT YEAR
The U.S. economy is expected to strengthen next year, in part because of the government stimulus proposed at by President-elect Donald Trump, but job growth is likely to slow as the recovery approaches its eighth anniversary, according to a recent survey of economists.

The city of Fayetteville has recently changed their codes. The city will now approve installation of gas meters for heat as long as the home is painted inside and the furnace is hooked up with thermostat and all grills are installed in the ceiling.
They will also allow permanent electric meter to be set after sheetrock as long as there is a GFI installed in the home.
OSHA CONFINED SPACES STANDARDS IN CONSTRUCTION
In May 2015 OSHA issued new standards for construction work in confined spaces. Confined spaces can present physical and atmospheric hazards can be avoided if they are recognized and addresses prior to entering these spaces. OSHA has provided a list of common questions and answers to assist employers in protecting their workers while working in and around confined spaces.
