The Northwest Arkansas Home Builders Foundation; a 501(3)c non-profit, under the supervision of the Northwest Arkansas Home Builders Association, hosted its 2nd Annual “PULL! For Construction Trades Trap Shoot” on Tuesday, May 2.  The foundation is dedicated to bringing construction classes back to high schools.  We learned that over 50% of graduating students do not attend college or trade schools.  Without trade courses being introduced to the students before leaving high school, they have limited knowledge of careers in the construction industry.  We are proud to say that we have played an integral part in starting trade classes at Bentonville High School and Bentonville West High School. These classes offer dual credit to students interested in pursuing their construction education further at NWACC, where the foundation sits on the Advisory Board for the Construction Management Degree.

This year we had 81 shooters at the event and raised enough funds to support every student in the Ignite Programs dual credit tuition along with an additional materials donation. On Monday, May 15th our Executive Officer, Marissa Fahrig, was able to present the Bentonville School Board with a check for $4,750! The Foundation is also working closely with the NWACC Foundation to provide 1 $1,000 scholarship to a Construction Management student interested in residential construction. We are proud of our members who are supporting the next generation of NWA builders and trades men and women!
